1. Battle of Hokuetsu1868 CE
   The Battle of Hokuetsu took place during the Boshin War of the Meiji Restoration, which occurred in 1868 in the northwestern part of Japan, in the area of modern Niigata Prefecture.
2. Battle of Hakodate1868 CE
   The Battle of Hakodate was fought in Japan from December 4, 1868, to June 27, 1869, between the remnants of the Tokugawa shogunate army, consolidated into the armed forces of the rebel Ezo Republic, and the armies of the newly formed Imperial government. It was the last stage of the Boshin War, and occurred around Hakodate in the northern Japanese island of Hokkaidō. In Japanese, it is also known as the Battle of Goryōkaku .
3. Battle of Utsunomiya Castle1868 CE
   The Battle of Utsunomiya Castle took place between pro-imperial and Tokugawa shogunate forces during the Boshin War in Japan in May 1868 at Utsunomiya Castle. It occurred as the troops of the Tokugawa shogunate were retreating north towards Nikkō and Aizu.
4. Battle of Ueno1868 CE
   The Battle of Ueno was a battle of the Boshin War, which occurred on 4 July 1868, between the troops of the Shōgitai under Shibusawa Seiichirō and Amano Hachirō, and Imperial "Kangun" troops.
5. Donghak Peasant Revolution1894 CE
   The Tonghak Peasant Revolution took place between 11 January 1894 and 25 December 1895 in Korea. The peasants were primarily followers of Donghak, a Neo-Confucian movement that rejected Western technology and ideals.
6. First Sino-Japanese War1894 CE
   The First Sino-Japanese War, or the First China–Japan War, was a conflict between the Qing dynasty of China and the Empire of Japan primarily for influence over Korea. In China it is commonly known as the Jiawu War. After 6 to 7 months of unbroken successes by Japanese land and naval forces and the loss of the ports of Lüshunkou and Weihaiwei, the Qing government sued for peace in February 1895 and signed the Treaty of Shimonoseki two months later, ending the war.
7. Russo-Japanese War1904 CE
   The Russo-Japanese War was fought between the Russian Empire and the Empire of Japan over rival imperial ambitions in Manchuria and the Korean Empire. The major land battles of the war were fought on the Liaodong Peninsula and near Mukden in Southern Manchuria, with naval battles taking place in the Yellow Sea and the Sea of Japan.
